Genuine Oromo Ethiopians Demand under Dilemma

The current unforgiving punishment against enormous innocent Oromo students and others including torture, jailing and killing in connection with demand the right to stop the illegal displacement of poor farmers from their land shows that the obstinate plan of the TPLF ethno-apartheid rulers to destroy the people of Ethiopia gradually as their determination to rule the country with iron fist and using brute force to every kind of conflict is a verification to their belligerent attitude.

At the same route, the saddest part is that even today some self-proclaimed Oromo politicians and activists are still obsessedwith baseless history and blame Amhara, while their house is robbed by the TPLF gangs. Seemingly, they are unable to see the reality behind the curtain and identify the sheep in wolves clothing character of TPLF gangs. Consequently, their core genuine freedom and justice demandhas been shaded. Apparently, these few confused individuals in Diaspora are driven by emotion and falsified stories as they are using this consequence to advance their tiny hatred against innocent Ethiopians in particular Amhara and Christian that has nothing to do with the crime that is being committed by TPLF.I am sure; if these individuals were honest they would blame those (TPLF gangs) who forced Ethiopians to face endless misery and sufferingandwho are sucking their (Oromos) blood and eating their flesh, and forced them to wretched of poverty in the mid of plenty.

Anyhow, no wonder that this is neither the beginning nor end of the TPLF methodical violence against innocent Ethiopians. It has been over two decades that deprived peasant farmers throughout the country have been forced to leave their land with gun point as the TPLF gangs are collecting million dollars every year by leasing those lands for foreign investors while the poor peasants pushed to the side without any hope and condemn to misery until the last breath.  It wasn’t long that thousands of Oromo students were rounded up and arrested, beaten, tortured, and some are even killed.Plus, massive reports reaching the international community confirms an increasing trend of new extra judicial killings, severe forms of torture and lootings of civilian property by the TPLF militias throughout Ogden, Gonder, Benshanguel, Gambella, Wallegga and other parts of Ethiopia.

It’s evident that the current suffering of Oromo students and other Ethiopians is a drop in the bucket compared to the large number of Ethiopians abused, killed and tortured by the TPLF gangs and having unspeakable suffering and agony every day. Hundreds and thousands of Ethiopians has been killed, tortured and jailed with fabricated and trumped-up charges of terrorism for the last few years and yet innocent individuals like Bekele Gerba, Eskinder Nega, Reyot Alemu, Andwalem Arage and others are still incarcerated behind bars and have been even refused to get basic access to families and medical care in connection to similar fabricated charges. So many of them killed without reason, raped in a daily bases throughout Ethiopia  including the vast number of Oromo students who are now being tortured in various known and unknown TPLF prisons as well as the large number Ogden’s who are being raped, burned inside their houses and other enormous atrocities. Thousands of Amhara Ethiopians have been persuasively evacuated from their property.

Despite the TPLF ethno-apartheid rulers’ false claim and fabricated evidence against the accused there is no any kind of relationship between the incarcerated Ethiopians and the undemocratic nature of TPLF. The TPLF gangs are responsible for such horror and the suffering of our people.Of course it is not accidental that all accused individuals are not a member of the ruling group, but it is well-designed and deliberate schemes prearranged by the TPLF rulers to use fabricated stories as a scapegoat in order to annihilate the main brave, strong-minded and vigorous Ethiopians.Indeed, targeting some strong and dedicated Ethiopians for their own incompetency and malicious behaviour is a common act of the TPLF ethno-apartheid rulers, but the good part is that their unscrupulous act is exposed and grasped by the majority of Ethiopians.
Again, the problem in Ethiopia is not these innocent students or other genuine oppositions that are shamelessly branded as terrorist, as the narrow TPLF elements always trying to portray as if every problem Ethiopia encounter is caused by oppositions, nevertheless the problem is lack of democracy, justice and freedom in the country. The problem is the ethno-apartheid government deliberately alienated the poor Ethiopians form the economic sector and forced them to starve in the mid of plenty. The problem is the TPLF ethno-apartheid rulers using the state power to transfer the people’s money to their pocket as well as their village, while million Ethiopians children are dying in malnutrition and preventable disease as well as unaffordable ever increasing cost of living. The problem is not the innocent people who have using nonviolent protest to demand their rights, but TPLF who reject pluralism and establish one ethnic hegemony and obvious ethno-apartheid government.

On the other hand, individuals like JawarMohammed and his naive blind followersfrom Diaspora who are living in fantasy world are deliberately inflicting hate among Ethiopian tribes in order to misinform citizens. They are making a loud and illogical noise against Amhara and Christiansand have been creating more problems within the victim Oromo community. Because, they are screaming all over the planet to take advantage of this tragedy in order to advance their tiny-mini ethnocentric Islamic Oromia dream with the cost of innocent Oromo bloods. Apparently, most of their gullible followers are misled by this hatred rhetoric and echoing unjustified falsified stories day in and day out. They are still unable to re -evaluate their detested six century type tribal dogma in order to know that the current Amhara and Christian Ethiopians’ people are not responsible for what had happened hundred years ago. But what should matter it what is happening today ( the brutal crime of Weyane against Ethiopians), which is of course has nothing to do with the issue as it simply damages the popular struggle and endanger the survival of Oromo tribe Ethiopians.

Anyhow, regardless of the complex problem the struggle for democracy and justice would flourish as well as getting stronger whenever the TPLF ethno-apartheid rulers use their brute force to suppress the voice of the people. Apparently, the TPLF gangs lie as well as divide and rule filthy game would never end, and of course they would dig every hole and climb every mountain to undermine and blackmail any opposition groups as well as individuals who are considered as a threat to the continuity of their racist agenda.  The only way to stop such kind of malicious and cruel schema is having coordinated struggle. The different ethnic and opposition groups should be able to compromise for the sake of the common good, and aim toward the common enemy (TPLF) instead of spending time fighting unnecessary and useless war among each other.

Therefore, at this critical time genuine Ethiopians should be happy to see collaboration among different tribal and opposition groups, because such coordinated struggle shorten the life span of the TPLF gangs who are using divide and rule as the main political instrument. Therefore, freedom lover Ethiopians should focus on the big problem which makes us to bleed inside and destroy our identity and country.Undeniably, there is no any individuals or group who is not affected directly or indirectly by the TPLF ethno-fascist rulers’ tribally prejudiced agenda, so instead of splitting words and spend our valuable energy to repair our minor difference it would be advisable to focus toward the common enemy which is killing us as well as destroying our country. Anyhow, the struggle should be focused on the common enemy. Apparently, we have spent so many times degrading each other as ANTE AMAHRA…ANTE OROMO…ANTE TIGRE and other similar type childish tantrum. It would not important to continue as such, because if we do so the enemy would benefit more than anyone of us.

  1. All of a sudden Ogaden and some orom groups are coming to the Ethiopian political spectrum. These groups has been out of Ethiopian’s political landscape. There must be some one who breath life to these groups. I have a my suspicion. do you?

  2. Bravo, Meron. Preach it! I like everything you said, sister. These extremist, anti-Amhara and gullible Oromo individuals would never stop until they dismantle Ethiopia, and they are not different from Wayane, in my opinion. Instead of targeting Wayane, they are still obsessed with poor Amhara, who throughout history never received any better treatment than other ethnic groups, but somehow because Amharic has been the most spoken language In the country, they see this as a privilege for Amhara. The reality is Amhara makes up the poorest and most economically marginalized people in Ethiopia today or throughout our long history. Why these hoodlums and bigots think Amhara is their enemy is something I will never understand. They are creating new history as they go…laughable.

  3. Meron,

1.The Oromo politicians you’re trying to refer to, have the overwhelming support of their people. If any organization whether TPLF or hard-liner Amhara Politicians doubt this, why not let TRUE democracy implemented in the Ethiopian empire then see if they would be neglected by the Oromo people. Past experience (1991, 1992) and the fact on the ground today, indicates that they are loved and supported by the vast majority of the Oromo people. As we all know, what prolonged Wayyane life is the barrel of a gun and its ability to cheat the international community. That is an uphill battle the OLF is fighting always. Slowly but surely success will come. Do you know why OPDO is unable to garner support from Oromos for the past 20 + years? It’s because the people know that none other than OLF can defend their right.
    2. You said some confused individuals in Diaspora are driven by emotion and false history. Most Oromos have no confusion about their identity and history in the 21st century. The history Oromos are bringing out to light is NOT FALSE history. There are so many facts you can trace that the Oromos have been conquered and annexed by the Abyssinans around 1880’s. Even Amharas know that. The Oromos are NOT saying the current generation should be responsible for what had taken place over a century ago. What they are saying is let the past be acknowledged and figure out how we can live together or side by side in either true unity or neighborly friendship with one another. This decision whether to live in a truly united Ethiopia or friendly separate states should be decided by the Oromo people without any pressure, intimidation where true democracy, justice and freedom is the accepted norm. If and when that happens, whatever the people choose would and should be respected.
    3. In most of your writing you mention “tribe” or “tribal”. Let me correct you Oromo is not a tribe. Oromo is a nation. But within the Oromo nation there are tribes or clans. For example: Gulele, Ekkaa (Yeka as it is refered to in Addis/Finfinee), even Bole (the airport) is tribe or clan. I just mentioned few of them that you may know the names since they are the original inhabitants of the capital. If you go to other parts of Oromo land, tribes such as Amumaa, limu, enariya, sibu, babilee, meta, etc. exist. Therefore, do not equate Oromo as whole to a tribe unless you speak of the few tribes I tried to mention here..
    4. I really don’t understand what your motive and/or your logic is when you accuse Jawar Muhamed of “laud noise against Amhara and Christian”. Meron, this is your own creation and fantasy. There are three religions the Oromos follow: Christian, Islam and Waaqefata (traditional Oromo religion-before they were introduced to Christian and Islam religions). The two major religions are Christian and Islam. If you’re trying to divide Oromos based on religion, don’t waste your time. They are aware of such scheme and they are protecting that loop hole. For example: I’m Christian and believe in Jesus Christ. I really don’t object to Islam religion; it’s their personal choice. As far as I know Jawar is not a practicing Islam. When it comes to Ethiopia, he is more Ethiopianist than some of us. You guys hated him just because in interview with Al-Jazira he didn’t say, I’m Ethiopian first. You guys want him to deny his origin and praise your “imiyee Ethiopia”. I for one strongly believe that an independent Oromia would be the solution to the suffering of the Oromo people. My understanding of Jawar’s belief is that Oromos could forge a true union with other Abyssinians based on democracy. For the sake of discussion, let’s say today a vote will be casted where Oromos are able to choose their future destiny, whether to create an independent state or live in a truly democratized Ethiopia. I would vote for the former and probably Jawar would vote for the later. The fact the Abyssinians hate Jawar is really exposed them that they only like people who would bow to their “imiyee Ethiopia”

Finally, I agree with you about TPLF. YOU ARE CORRECT on almost all points that you exposed them on. There is only one thing that I agree with the TPLF on. That is Ethiopia has been (to me still is) is a prison state of nations and nationalities. The problem is TPLF preaches theory and acts opposite to that of its own theory

    • Well articulated reply, Legit. Yes, Oromos should have their own country. But, I a Selale Oromo and have more affinity with Selale Amara than with Arsi Oromo. So, my advice is for the Aris, Bale, Wellega Oromos to create their own country leaving the affair of Shewa for us. It will be then up to us to decide whether to be with your Oromia, the Amara land or to create our own country as Addis Ababa the capital, and Nazareth (Adama), the second city. As you are seeking to be free from an Amara influence, I hope you can understand our legitimate right to be free from the influence of you guys.

      • Ato Fekadu Moreda,

I’ve never heard of Selale Amhara as a group. If you’re talking about Amharas who reside in Selale, Oromia, let me give you what seems fair option to me in order of precedence.
        1. Live in Oromia that respects and protects their Amhara citizenship
        2. Become naturalized Oromian Citizen
        3. Leave for Amhara land/country

If you’re trying to say you and some handful individuals like you are more comfortable with Amharas than they do with other Oromos, may be the Amharas would have some place–land and social cast for you guys. But Selale has always been and still is an Oromo land. ONE OF THE GREATEST OROMO FREEDOM FIGHTERS, TADESSE BIRRU KEENE (General Tadesse Birru) was from Selaale. Some even argue he is the pioneer of the Oromo struggle in the urban environment.

Speaking of people who isolate themselves from other Oromos and have social, marital, and other bonds with Amharas, the Oromo struggle is not against them–not even against Amhara–only against the system. They respect their individual rights. Look Being Oromo is NOT ONLY a matter of born to Oromo family. It’s true that you have to be born to Oromo parent or parents but more importantly one has to have Oromo value. You may ask what is that Oromo value? The simple answer is owning Oromo history, respecting Oromo’s right to develop its own culture, language, history, scripts, etc. Believe, in the right of people’s to self determination.
One thing is understandable though; the older generation was a victim of forced assimilation and made to deny their identity. Just to cite a few examples: They weren’t allowed to speak their language at least on school grounds; as they enroll to school, their names would be changed–some are forced to change and some people couldn’t resist the pressure and they change it without being forced. BTW, do you know Loriet, Tsegay G/medhin Qawessa’s father (G/Medhin) original name was not G/Medhin? Do you know Tilahun Gessese was not his original name, Tilahun was born to Mrs. Gete Gurmu and Mr. Ayyaano Guddata (Woliso Awrajja), on 29 September 1940. His given name was thus Dandana Ayano Gudata. The point is either to fit to the system or forcefully subjected to change their way of life similar to that of the dominant culture/group. It’s very hard to untangle that type of chain . But, the fact nowadays shows that the newer generation knows better and growing up in an environment that respects its identity.
For the old-timer folks like you, I don’t know what remedy out there to make them believe in Oromummaa. Do not misunderstand me, I’m not saying you are old of course I don’t know you. what I’m saying is for people who still languish in the era of Tilahun’s and Tesgay’s ( BTW, I respect these two individuals because they were super in their respective professions) raising a question like the ones that you raised is understandable and I’m sure that wouldn’t be an issue going forward.

        Good question though.

I am in support of Fekadu.
First of All you do not exactly know where General Tadesse Biru is from.
I as an Oromo agree with you to have Oromos, culture and risght respected. However, I like Fekadu, am against your stupid comments on his and my right too. Please Showa is not Arisi and vice versa- obviously we are different but we belong to Oromo language. Even our culture is far from reaching. Therefore, It is our right to administer our Show with all other people living in it. Please it is true showa are closer to showa Amharas than Wollega or Arsi or other ethnic groups. So, you must be careful when you try to argue. Your comment is very clear to say that we must fall under your “Oromia…”. It does not work my friend. We respect and value your comments but hate your arrogance and “I know better than you” mentality.

The fact that you try to say General Tadesse is not born in Selale, Shewa (Oromia) made me think that you’re foreign to Oromo and Oromo struggle. I and millions of Oromos know that 100+ %. General Tadesse Birru was born in 1921 in Selale, Shewa. Although I didn’t have the chance to meet this Oromian legend, my parents and my uncles knew him VERY WELL. In case you have access to, find a book called “Goota Oromiyaa” (Hero of Oromiyaa). This book has 431 pages. The book contains a brief biography of very few hero and heroines martyrs of the Oromo nation. You can find General Tadesse’s biography in there. If you’re interested I think you can order it on Amazon.com. I say all these just to proof my certainty. I’m not even sure you’re Oromo but just to give you the benefit of the doubt, I assume you are.
Your comment implies that different people shouldn’t have one country. I say this because you said “Showa is not Arsi and vice versa–obviously we are different…”. does that mean you are not happy with Ethiopia?–obviously peoples of Ethiopia are far different from one another than very minor differences Oromos have among themselves. I hope to get an answer on this one.
Finally, I may be stupid as per you judgment. but I’m not arrogant. I’m a smaller fish in a big pond and as humble as any human being can be. That is for sure. .

I do not have to go down to my clan and get narrow like you do is if this changes and help. This is one of our major differences between you and I as bot Oromos. Showa belongs to both Oromos and Amharas. They have been living for so many generations. I am Oromo and this is the fact. What as SHowa oromo am scared is the oromos from far not the Amharas. Bale, Arsi and Wollega, more specially, have been conquering us and selling our lands. You are threats to Showa Oromo. your mouth runs fast to be critical instead of correcting me humbly. I wonder, where such rude Oromos come from. I grew up in the culture with discipline and respecting humanity and elders. Anyway, it does not matter if I do not dig into your fictitious clan and tribes. What a poison are you

  4. Dear Meron
I could encourage since you are the beginner. Neverthless, this is the most silly message I have ever seen posted on this web. I advise u to learn from other mature people. WHat u wrote tells your malfunctioning heart. Please first and for most, to talk about our people- and set a blame- understand deep into their chronic problems. It is not the interest of Oromos to hate others and dis unite. Just the co existence of many other ethnic groups within Oromia is a good exemplery, whereas it is unlikely to see this good mix of people in Tigri and amhara region or any other place. As I understand, one most thing Oromos hate is a big mouth which is always spitting poison of shame like yours. We are proud of being Ethiopians. Rest assured this. It is very supportive to speculate your ethno-centric mind and trying to cover this. I advise you to start with the problem, the cause. ask yourself why is this happening in Ethiopia? what were and are the causes?-Then if you genuinely search for the cause, then now you can suggest some solutions to remedy. It is you and people like you who must be responsible for the cause and damage of our people because of your emotionality and hatred of other people in the land of Ethiopia. But You chant again and again “Ethiopia……”. WHolesome love and respect of others from your heart is what will change the situation. Even you do not have to do anything. Where you are, start thinking of loving and respect others (Oromos, amharas, Tigirs etc, leaders). Then you will notice immediate transformation, which I believe already beginning.

It is my sincere honor to Dr Zelalem Eshete- Who is a very realistic and thoughtful person. Learn from his articles.

  5. The biggest problem of the Amhara elite is its failure to recognize its leaders are politicians and humans. This one-sided and glorification of the Amhara leaders has been one of the major hurdle to political change in Ethiopia. TPLF knows this weakness and make use of it to stay in power. The Amhara elite has to come clean by declaring the weaknesses of its former leaders like Minilik in order to set history right.

  7. Meron:

Do you see how these anti-Amhara Ormos gang up on you? If you have noticed lately, this is what they do in all instances that when one tries to debunk their falsified history of Ethiopian nation-building, they all gang up and speak out and brand you with the same name-calling—Amhara Neftognatch or something else. They don’t want to admit not want to understand that Oromo’s history within the Ethiopia goes back to centuries and did not start with Minilik. Ormos had conquered other parts of Ethiopia in the north and had become power brokers and king-makers way before Minilik expanded his rule during his reign. They would not accept this fact, and just want to take over Ethiopia now by the sheer number of the alleged size of Oromo population without also realizing that the large number of the Ethiopian population is also of mixed heritages that came about because of centuries of intermingling and internal migrations among the ethnic groups that had lived for centuries. There is no purity in Ethiopian ethnic groups….unless you create one, and that is what these extremist Oromos want to do these days. While I hate Woyane and have done so for 23 years, I am beginning to hate even more these extremist Oromo bigots; sometimes, I wonder if we have to applaud Wayane for clipping their wings, as they try to fail separating the farce from the fact of their so-called history. As I know it, Ormost are just as Ethiopian as any other ethnic group, and thus stop helping Wayne’s rule to continue by bringing up issues that will never bring harmony among our people. Long live Ethiopiawinet!

The question is that are we still pointing our fingere on what has happened before and stop cooperating each others to over through the brutal government of Ethiopia? Imagine how the Germans genocide the Israels in second world war and they are still living in the same world. Don’t split the hair, what i mean that we should forgive each other and struggle for the current problem. The whole is greater than the some of its parts!!!!

You comment sounds as if there was ethnic-targeted attack or suppression. All Ethiopians were under Feudal and Royal dynastic governance which involved all ethnics. Read on Our kings biography. No one is purely from one Ethnic but Tewodrosse and Yohannes .All were talking about and practicing geographical naming and ruling assigning local leaders from its locale.

  9. MERON I appreciate your courage to challenge the hate driven and mad OLF cadres and so called sick OLF historians who are writting history of their own which can prepare their blind followers for the planned GENOCIDE on AMHARAS by blaming AMHARAS for the crimes they never committed, as you might have known AMHARA people never had a culture of cutting human organs let alone a women breast, rather ARUSI and GUJI OROMOS still to date practice cutting human organs and that is what OLF GALLAS did to innocent and defenceless AMHARAS in BEDENO, ARBAGUGU, ASSOSA, and also the GUJI Oromos still practice the cutting of PENNIS to look Hero before they marry a woman yet OLF Historians still insist AMHARA cut a women breast and even erect a statue for the lie they have been telling for their followers
MERON, you should expect an avalanche of attack and insults from OLF cadres who denied their History of INVASION and GENOCIDE they committed 400 years ago documented by even foreign historians such as HERBALD, ALVAREZ, ABA BAHRAIN, these Historians detailed the barbaric crimes committed by GALLA invaders on AMHARAS, GURAGES, DAWRO, HADIYA, SIDAMA and WOLAYTA

ONE thing OLF historians and cadres does not want to address is extinction of ENARYA, DAMOT, and GAFAT people who were the victims of OROMO GENOCIDE, who used to live in the present day of OROMIYA

MERON as you stated well people like JAWAR are preaching hate based on false and fabricated stories and are making their followers kill, attack, and harass AMHARAS however the AMHARA people patience is running thin and AMHARA people are fade up with the killings and attacks on them and reaching to a point to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH to OLFites and when AMHARA people say enough is Enough and their hands raise FIRE ARMS OROMO people will pay a dare price, AMHARA people patience is not from fear and weakness and if these trend of attacking AMHARAS continue ETHIOPIA will sink in to chaos and the consequence will be immense mainly for OROMOS and I hope OROMO elites come to their sense and do something the looming civil war between AMHARAS and OROMOS which will be worse than the RWANDAN case

You can never convince people by the “were” from “Buna”. I always get sorry for people like you. As if you are the only one who is an Ethiopia and knows for others. When you write history- debate about it with evidence. It is the most annoying mistake in life that you make by Insulitng others or trying to defame. Jawar has his point straight forward. Though many of us question his debate, he often supports with evidence and logic. So, if you do not agree, that is good, but there is no need to attempt to defame such person of a “growing calibre”. if there is fault along his line, obviously he is unsuccessful.
