Ministry of health, in its daily report, said it has tested at least 4034 people for COVID-19 the past twenty-four hours and registered 113 female and 73 male patients.
All except five are Ethiopian citizens with their ages ranging from 6 to 75 years. The ministry’s report does not state the nationalities of the foreigners.
Addis Ababa, the epicenter of COVID-19 in the country, recorded the majority of Wednesday’s cases after authorities identified 147 patients.
Somali (16), Afar (10), Dire Dawa (8), Oromia (4), and SNNPR recorded the remaining cases.
– 3 Deaths –
The ministry has also registered three coronavirus-related deaths over the past 24 hours.
Somali region reported two deaths while one registered in Addis Ababa. This has brought the death tally in Ethiopia to 78, according to the Ministry of Health.
Currently, there are 3, 468 active cases in the country. Of these, 38 patients are in severe conditions, according to the report.
The ministry also said 74 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the disease. The majority of them are from Addis Ababa, where 63 patients recovered. The rest of the recovered cases are from Tigray (6), Harari (1) and SNNP (2) and Somali (2).
To date, Ethiopia tested 227, 375 individuals for the virus. The country confirmed 5, 034 cases and, of these, 1, 486 have recovered from the disease
