ISIS released a video threatening Christians and executing by gunshot and beheading Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

The 29-minute video appears to show militants holding two groups of captives, one by an affiliate in eastern Libya known as Barka Province and the other by the Fazzan Province, an affiliate in the south.

A masked fighter wielding a pistol says Christians must convert to Islam or pay a special tax prescribed by the Quran, before the captives in the south are shown being shot dead and the captives in the east are beheaded on a beach.

In January, militants loyal to the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS and ISIL, claimed responsibility for an attack on the Corinthia hotel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli that left 10 people including an American and four other foreigners dead.

Extremist groups, including some that have pledged allegiance to ISIL, have risen in the country since the overthrow of dictator Moammar Gadhafi in 2011.

In February, Egypt began airstrikes against ISIL targets in Libya hours after militants released a video purporting to show the mass beheading of Egyptian Christian hostages.

ISIL controls vast swaths of Syria and neighboring Iraq. The extremists were recently driven out of Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit by Iraqi forces and allied Shiite militias, helped by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes.

The battle for Tikrit was seen as a key step toward driving the militants out of Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city.

  1. What did The Quran says about “Habeshas”? Where was the First Hijira ? Without our King giving shelter to the persecuted Muslims then there will no be Islam today. Prophet Mohammed on his own ward said “Do not put your hands on Habeshas”. What ISIS today did in Libya has proven that they are not even following their own Holy Book.

The video today will remain in the minds of Ethiopians forever and those who did this heinous crime will fall on the hands of Ethiopians. It is not the drone but our people prayer both Christians and Muslims will be heard from above and the end of ISIS is not far.

Ethiopians prayer are more effective than Obama’s Drones !!! We are crying today for our dead and pray for God to destroy ISIS from AFRICAN SOIL !!! Those who Killed Mohammed Gadaffi have brought to us ISIS on African soil.

Thousands are dying running from Libya to be locked up like animal in Europe. Shame on the West for destroying Libya and empowering ISIS. We Africans were better off with Mohammed Gadafffi than ISIS Animals !!!

Statement of Condemnation by First Hijrah Foundation
    April 20, 2015

The heinous killing of innocent Ethiopian Christians in Libya shocks our conscience and must be repudiated by those of every faith and background worldwide. The perpetrators of such monstrous acts place themselves outside any faith or ideology.

As we condemn the killings in Libya, we also condemn the attacks on innocent immigrants in the Republic of South Africa. These violent and inexcusable actions demonstrate once again that mainstream followers of all faiths must join together in challenging extremism and hate.

Islam considers all life forms as sacred. However, the sanctity of human life is accorded a special place. The first and the foremost basic right of a human being is the right to live. The Glorious Quran says:

“…if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.”

Such is the value of a single human life, that the Quran equates the taking of even one human life unjustly, with killing all of humanity. Thus, the Quran prohibits homicide in clear terms. The taking of a criminal’s life by the state in order to administer justice is required to uphold the rule of law, and the peace and security of the society. Only a proper and competent court can decide whether an individual has forfeited his right to life by disregarding the right to life and peace of other human beings.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) sent the following message to the monks of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai saying:

“This is a message written by Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, far and near, we are behind them. Verily, I defend them by myself, the servants, the helpers, and my followers, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be changed from their jobs, nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they (Christians) are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, this is not to take place without her own wish. She is not to be prevented from going to her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation is to disobey this covenant till the Day of Judgment and the end of the world.”

ISIS or ISIL does not represent Islam or Muslims. Its violent acts of terrorism are in sharp contrast to the teaching of Qura’n and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and have nothing to do with Islam and its principles that call for justice, kindness, fairness, freedom of faith and coexistence.

The murder of innocent civilians is immoral, illegal, barbaric, and in direct contravention of the major tenets of Islam and Islamic law. No cause or purpose is served by this heinous act other than a clear manifestation of this group’s cruel and un-Islamic nature.

We therefore, condemn in the strongest terms the killings of our fellow Ethiopian brethren in Libya and we ask justice be served to the perpetrators of these crimes.

Our heartfelt condolence goes to the families of the victims both in Libya and South Africa.

  5. This inhuman killing is widely condemned and unacceptable. The west should as a matter of urgency, use the NATO power to eradicate the terrorist group. The Muslim community in the world should stand up collectively against this terrorist group and warned them not to tarnish the name of Islam further. On the other hand, the Christians are advised to evacuate Libya, Syria, Iraq and other Islamist dominated places as quick as possible. The Ethiopian govt should emulate the Egyptian govt that was very proactive when this devilish group slaughtered Egyptians Coptic in Libya recently. The Ethiopian govt should send all necessary resources to evacuate her citizens from Libya and other places.

  6. What can I say? Ethiopians are burned in south Africa; stranded in Yemen; raped and killed in Saudi Arabia; shot in the head and beheaded in Libya by ISIS; tortured and thrown to jail for years in their Country for having a different opinion to the politics of the Government. These made me ask: Where is PAN African ism? Where are the words of the prophet Mohamed regarding Ethiopia? What was the response of Ethiopian Gov’t for the brutal act of the Saudi Gov’t? What is the response to ISIS? Ethiopians have no Drones, Ethiopia can’t open air strikes like the Egyptians did. What is the option for us? Prayer to the Almighty, the savior, the help in peril, the all knowing GOD.Let God put his Mercy on Ethiopians and its nations.

  7. These barbaric act by so called ISIS is a work of devil, ie inhuman and horrifying killings is against the teachings of Islam and the west should destroy ISIS before it is too late.

I pass my condolence to the families of those brothers who have been the victims of this devil act
