Open Letter to H.E. Mahamat and Honorable Bass – Ethiopia’s Sovereign Right to Use the Nile River

H.E. Mahamat and Honorable Bass;

This letter is in response to a February 28, 2020 Statement by the US Secretary of the Treasury,
Steven Mnuchin, regarding Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam.

Mr. Mnuchin, after concluding a separate bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs
and the Ministers of Water Resources of Egypt and Sudan (without the presence of Ethiopia),
gave unbalanced and one sided ultimatum for Ethiopia to sign the agreement as soon as possible
and cease from filling the dam before signing. As a volunteer mediator between independent and
sovereign countries, it is very troubling to understand the reason for Mr. Mnuchin’s one sided
inappropriate, colonialist and authoritarian directive to Ethiopia. —- Read the full letter —-

  2. Hello el-Sisi! Hello!! Is somebody upstairs? Get this straight from the horse’s mouth: ‘As the owner of the GERD [Ethiopia] will commence filling in parallel with the construction of the dam, in accordance with the principles of equitable and reasonable utilization and the causing of no significant harm.” In parallel with the construction of the dam, in accordance with the principles of equitable and reasonable utilization and the causing of no significant harm! Get it? How more plain English can it be? Take a nap then read it again with a fresh mind!!! Otherwise, get lost!!!!

    One more point I would like to be mentioned in this well written letter is to remind the Honorable Congress Woman that those Western Nations that armed Egypt with the most advanced hardware have the utmost responsibility to restrain their client from using such weapons like the F16’s, Mirage military jets and long range missiles(the technology for these missiles might have been stolen from them) to kill innocent black folks who are doing nothing but exercising their birth rights with no intention of harming others nearby and afar.
